this round is almost over

Well this round of design change on my tiny apartment is almost done. The bachelorette pad has gone from this:

To white, black and gray modern organic/rustic/glam...

And the bedroom went from petrol blue high gloss color:

To soothing white zen with a huge art installation of dogwood branches on watercolor paper...

Sorry for the nighttime pics but I was excited! Can't wait to show you the entire space in a couple of weeks...and I am even more excited about moving in September and doing a whole new look in the next place! Stay tuned because most everything except the art will be up for sale in a couple months...

I am a big supporter of West Elm. Right now I have two of the lacquer bookcases and the cone floor lamp. I try to steer clear of most of the furniture just because the scale is not big enough sometimes and it can look a little catalog-y. However, they have been doing some amazing things lately and I think these items would be great touches in any home:

Painted laminate

Several of the fixer-uppers I have been researching lately have a few rooms with laminate floors. Lots of people look at those and immediately think of the expense of tearing them out and putting in hardwood or tile. But with a little sanding, you can paint laminate and have something amazing! Here are some of my favorite painted floors....would you have one in your house?

reader needs your advice

Ok, guys - you know I love it when you share what you are working on! Maureen sent me this amazing chair redo project she did! It went from this:

To this!

So it is obvious that she has a ton of talent and is a real do-it-yourself kinda girl. Now she is redoing her kitchen (pic above) and wants to know if anyone has a favorite gray she can paint the cabinets. She wants to go charcoal. Then she would like to know what light to go over the breakfast table in the back of the pic. I recommend marble or white quartz countertops to keep it light and fresh. Also, I think the back light fixture should be a totally different material than the large chrome ones - like white linen or paper.
Does anyone have any ideas for Maureen?
