I will paint the entire inside, even the floors, white. I know that's a lot of IFs. Gotta love daydreams.

I really like this house designed by John McInroe for the Palmer family in Dallas. The New York Post article describes it as going from "spec to spectacular" or something like that. Only super rich people would complain about a mansion having no personality and being a "spec house". Once you get past that annoyance, though, there really are some lovely details...

Do you dump something if it becomes trendy?

I love these spaces - and a lot of them embody things that I have been doing and loving for a long time - fur, Moroccan rugs, mirrored furniture, exotic inlaid mirrors, vintage lighting, pictures hung on bookshelves. But lately I have been seeing too much of the same things. Do you dump something that you love because it becomes trendy? I know that it doesn't lose its beauty simply because more people love it, but as Interior Designers we pride ourselves on staying ahead of everyone else and get really depressed when everyone has the same things we do.... for example - I wanted a Beni Ourain Moroccan rug FOREVER and finally made it happen. Now, everyone from Anthropologie to West Elm has Beni Ourain rugs. I still love mine and it is still classic and beautiful, but you never want to look like you follow trends. What do you think? Dump or keep?
