A friend of mine has a floating fireplace in the middle of a mid-century modern house. It is currently white painted brick. I want to smooth it over but I can't decide between white, gray cement, or black for the smooth surface. What do you think??

We just painted our fireplace black and I absolutely love it. So I vote black. But grey would be second choice. No white!

But I am loving my fireplace wall now that I painted everything black to make the awkward insert disappear!

I think they're damn lucky to have a floating fireplace! And you know how I adore black.
