where i've been

Hey guys - sorry for the week off. So much has been going on that I have not a second to think! Here is a peek of what I have been up to....

Remember this table I got for a steal on Ebay?

I had it sprayed the super dark purple that we talked about. I was thinking that one day I would have a big open loft like Christiane Lemieux...

I hated it in my tiny apartment. I had to be honest with myself that I might never have a big open loft space. I also didn't like the brass details on the legs standing out off the paint. So I painted it white this weekend...

Much better! Now, I just have to decide what to put on the chrome Baughman chairs - I think a rustic linen short slipcover maybe. I have to stick with greige now since I keep getting sick of color every time I do it.

Saw this jute at Pier One - do you know how hard it is to find a 6x9? Almost all rugs online jump from 5x8 to 8x10 and this 6x9 is a great price for a super chunky jute at $199...it might be the thing for me...

I also had this gorgeous photo of my grandaddy blown up and framed. I love it so much - wasn't he totally gorgeous!?

And because you guys know I am constantly getting rid of stuff, I am now selling this Beni Ourain rug! I had it shipped from Morocco and it has been professionally soaked and washed. It is about 5 1/2 feet by ten feet. It has no pattern on it, which is what I love since everyone is doing the patterned ones. It is just a simple cream. Let me know if you are interested or know anyone who could use it!

I also tried on EVERY SINGLE ITEM in my entire closet and decided to tailor, sell, or donate it. It was so exciting to weed out all the things I don't wear and just be in love with everything I have in there. Of course, it is hard to get rid of dresses that were expensive, but why do I own so many sparkly cocktail dresses when I never go to cocktail parties?? It was fascinating to see what I am drawn to.
I hope your week was as eventful as mine - I can't believe we are almost in April!

busy weekend

This past weekend was a blur of work - took drapes over to "Chinoiserie Chic" client...I cannot wait for you guys to see this living room. Lime drapes, Chiang Mai dragon pillows, aqua velvet chairs, lacquer coffee table, and tons of vintage treasures passed down from family..

I also sent this sofa off to be reupholstered! It was one of my Ebay finds and I am having it done in the palest flax linen...

I did my fall wardrobe freshen up at Target. You guys, they have some awesome basics there - this camel blazer and red cords came home with me and were only $20 bucks each!

I have been working on a painting for my sis' house - still have three or four layers to go, but it is coming out great with a lot of depth. If you want to do the same thing, I suggest laying down a solid layer of color, then scraping on sections with a palette knife, then brushing on layers of watered down paint, etc.. - in other words using a different technique and texture each layer so you get lots of dimension...

Hope your week is just as productive...happy humpty hump day!

what i have been doing this week...

I have been so busy lately, guys! This week has been a shopping spree, both for clients and for myself... First, inspired by this brass chair that I have always loved -

I found one that was even better on Ebay and was the only bidder so I wasn't vigilant, went about my business at night, and lost it!! So angry! I was going to put this fabric on it - it's a Sunbrella!

Anyhoo, that's a bust - but I am still selling my antique chairs that I covered in the Kelly Wearstler fabric - if you or a client are interested let me know!

When I was clothes shopping the other night I could not get over this huge blue murano chandelier - at Victoria's on Magazine Street in New Orleans. It came with the building when she bought it - can you imagine? Gorgeous!

I cannot stop thinking about huge olive jars. Lots of people have them here out in their courtyards or in traditional spaces - but I would love a large one as a rough counterpoint to a slick white interior, the way Darryl Carter does it...

I had a great old photograph of my grandfather in his football uniform restored and blown up - can't wait to have it framed to show you guys. Now inspired by this picture:

I want to blow up this image:

I also got an amazing gray houndstooth for a pillow for a modern boy's nursery - that is still under wraps for now. But check out my boo boo - fell down while jogging last night so I am scraped up all over and sad I will have bandages during my Dominican Republic trip next week! ugh!

Hope you guys are having an amazing week...

What I did with myself this weekend...

I got a ton accomplished for my new clients this weekend, but my fave thing happened last night. Inspired by this pic of Ines de la Fressange's study in Paris (above), I convinced my bestie to let me paint her bedroom bubblegum pink. She is an art gallery owner and super bubbly so this was not hard to convince her to do. Last night she asked me to help her hang some of her huge collection, and then we went to a healthy dinner and I went home to a great night's sleep. By " let me paint", I mean my painter Lee, and by "healthy dinner", I mean gigantic bowl of spaghetti and meatballs, and by "home" I mean to the ice cream shop in secret shame, and of course by a "great night's sleep" I really mean staying up til 3am reading a trashy Highlander romance novel.
Do you love how it turned out? Of course there will be better pics later...
