So I didn't get my condo - what's next for me? I am actually pretty excited to totally change the look of this tiny apartment I am in. You can check out the previous look on the right - I have sold most of those items or put some faves in storage. I just don't have room for the amazing wicker dining chairs and lots of my accessories and tabletop items, so those are safely boxed away. I will take some pics of the things I have now - the place looks like a storage unit! And in a few months we will have a new reveal of a completely different apartment look. I think the key when you have 600 square feet or less is to have much fewer things, but for each piece to be amazing and beautiful. I am going for a super serene, luxurious look - almost everything is cream or white. You were with me when I found my huge sofa, mirrored credenza, and Beni Ourain rug, so it has been quite a design journey!
Next on my reading list are these amazing design books - I never buy new ones, as the slightly used versions on Amazon are half price and you can't even tell they have been read! So excited to be inspired... Have a great weekend!

Roughing it
If I were a millionaire I would spend as much of my time as possible away from crowded cities just being with my family. We love to go to cabins or spas for holidays, and just play board games and eat great food and swing on a porch swing and talk. However, the style of these places is always so country hokey. If I had a place in the wilderness, it would be super modern and gorgeous, like one of these dreamy places....where would you disappear to?

Bummed
Well it didn't work out. The "secret" I asked you all to send me good wishes for did not come to pass. I had a lead on a super hot deal - a 2BR 2BA loft condo with 12 foot ceilings that was perfect for me. It was a foreclosure but then it went to auction and silly me has never planned on buying - I have always been a renter and happy to have no obligations - so I have frittered all my money away on furniture, clothes and travel, and never saved the cash... Anyway - I am $5000 short of what I need and it's time to let it go. Gonna go crawl in bed. Thanks for all the well wishes.

Shine on me
The only thing that could have possibly improved yesterday's attic apartment would have been a few skylights. I have never lived in a place with skylights. Do they get dirty? Do they hold in heat and cool air well? I love these spaces with skylights or glass roofs - what do you think?

Flowers in the Attic
I am obsessed with this attic apartment. It runs the length of the attic and is separated by the glass partitions, but is only a few hundred square feet! The mirrored wall on one side, reflective ceiling, and doors leading out to a deck help expand the space visually. I could definitely be happy in this tiny attic space...

Oui
Always inspired by the French - this flat belonging to designer Frederic Mechiche makes me indescribably happy....

Thanks for the mention!
Haven't been feeling too inspired this week, guys. Maybe it is the heat here in New Orleans, but all I want to do these days is lie under a fan and read (currently blowing through The Hunger Games series). Speaking of reading, thanks for the post on book walls for children, Shelter Blog! The library wall in the nursery I did has always been the most popular and blogged about space... Maddy is really loving it as well! Thanks to my blogging bestie Sabra for pointing it out to me.
Have a great weekend, peeps!
