Celebrity Home: Hilary Swank

Hi, all! I hope you had an amazing weekend and are gearing up for Thanksgiving. I have been so busy lately I barely have time to write these posts, much less go see all the movies that are out now that I have been to! hahaha (how gorgeous was the house in Twilight: Breaking Dawn? It was filmed here and several of the pieces were from my store!)
Speaking of movie stars, here is the home of Hilary Swank, featured in the latest Elle Decor. What do you think about it? I like the bedroom, but I honestly feel like the living room looks like a Crate and Barrel catalog. This apartment seems like a corporate rental. She says that there are very personal touches like the art and some African pieces she collected over time, but I honestly don't see it. It does not feel warm or lived in at all to me. This issue caps off a few months of disappointing spaces in Elle Decor - is it becoming the new Architectural Digest? Filled with impersonal spaces of celebrities? This condo is oddly reminiscent of Courtney Cox' house. What do you guys think?

Celebrity Home: Courtney Cox

Of course the new Elle Decor is all about Courtney Cox' house. Her designer was Trip Haenisch, but of course she is another one of these actors who says they are basically a decorator and want to do it themselves with just a "sounding board" to bounce ideas off of. I love Courtney (an Alabama girl) and I love her show. And make no mistake, I love, love, love the house - it is exactly my style. But I am so tired of looking at homes that are gorgeous architecturally, with just three or four modern upholstered chairs tossed in the room and a simple gray and white scheme. I am doing that already in my tiny, cheap-ass apartment. I only want to look at a celebrity home because it is aspirational, unattainable, and super duper creative. Am I being bitchy?
Oh, well. It's that time of the friggin' month.

Celebrity Home: Claire Forlani

Claire Forlani's home has been much blogged about since it's debut in Domino a couple of years ago. It has long been a favorite of mine. The black tile! The metallic floral wallpaper! I love, love, love so many things about this home. It is very soothing and not the typical Spanish type decor of California. The interiors were designed by the stylist and decorator Estee Stanley, and I think it is beautiful - these pictures are in my permanent inspiration file.

Celebrity Home - Julianne Moore

I think that every weekend I will post a celebrity home so that we can dissect the interior spaces of the rich and famous, bash them with impunity, and feel better about ourselves... hahaha
Here is Julianne Moore's townhouse from The World of Interiors 2007. I know she has since sold it and the decor is probably five years old, but many things about it are classic. I love the gray walls in the comfy, relaxed living room. I also love the exposed beams and turquoise bar stools in the kitchen area, and the huge fireplace and marble tub in the bath are both to die for, if not a bit cold with all the white.
