that's a wrap!

I am leaving New Orleans on Monday, so today is my last day of client meetings. Just thought I would share with you some stools I had made for a client of mine - they were quite the process.

The client has a family connection/background from Turkey, and really loves the mosaic style prints of Iznik textiles. The fabric she finally decided on that looked great with her turquoise kitchen tile was only available in a linen. So I sent it to New York to be vinylized - a process that coats the fabric in plastic so that you can wipe it down. Then we had it sent back to New Orleans and applied to the stools. I am thrilled with how they came out and how they look with her blue tile. I hope she and her family enjoy them for many years!

Some of you had asked for another picture of the chairs we did for this same client in her entry hall. She had two old chairs that were missing seat cushions. We found a lemon yellow linen and had it custom monogrammed before being applied to seat cushions, which were then attached to the rebuilt chairs. This client likes custom pieces and I am glad she let me experiment with her!

I will take more pics of the moving process as my mom is going to roadtrip it across the desert with me! San Diego here I come!
See you soon...

foxy lady

I have been obsessed with fox door knockers for years. So when I got the cottage and saw that it had the most gorgeous blue trim and blue door, I knew I had to add something to it to really make it special. Enter this guy:

I can't wait to get him up!

As I get closer to my departure time - 2 1/2 weeks!!!  - I am getting the last items together that I really need - most of the things I already had were mid century and masculine but sleek, and the few new pieces I have gotten have trended towards rustic wood to pull that cottage flavor in. If I had ANY SPACE available, I would snap up this console from West Elm in a flash. I already have a chest that has parchment drawers, so the parchment factor is lovely to me, but the geometric drawers and brass base?? It is so upscale and high end looking. I truly think this is the best piece West Elm has ever done. Snatch one up before every single blogger and designer out there does...

I have two auctions going on through the weekend that I have items bidding on, so I will be on pins and needles for the next few days. Have a great weekend!

Decor for the 4th and forever

You guys know I do not decorate for the holidays, or like "theme" rooms. But I have long admired the work of Debbie Carlos, and her latest print is perfect for the 4th of July, or a kid's room, or anywhere!
Debbie uses a plotter, usually reserved for architectural drawings, to print her gorgeous images. They are so well priced and would make a stunning statement in any home. Find the the fireworks print HERE.
